PROJECTS & SAMPLES

Sunset Bay, USA | Irving, NY

Sunset Bay, USA is a multi-venue property that consists of a restaurant, beach club, private beach, vacation rental properties, and deli. As the Public Relations & Marketing Intern, I was responsible for promoting and organizing events, utilizing social media (Facebook and Instagram) to engage potential and existing customers, and creating compelling campaigns throughout the summer season. I promoted the Sunset Bay Experience, a well-attended community fundraiser event, which included a USATF-Sanctioned 5K race, by creating a website that can be accessed here:

Included in the gallery to the left are screenshot samples of some of the posts and campaigns I have made as well as Facebook analytics from the time that I served as the Sunset Bay Public Relations &  Marketing Intern.

WGSU-FM 89.3 | Geneseo, NY

As Marketing Director, one of my responsibilities was to build and manage a staff of other students interested in marketing. To better organize this staff, I created six marketing team sectors: Social Media Managers, Graphic Designers, Survey & Research Specialists, Event Coordinators, Remote Broadcasters, and Underwriters. To view descriptions of each marketing sector, please click the PDF logo below. The gallery to the left includes samples of my posts followed by 2017 Facebook analytics that show an increase in page engagement since I began working with the station. In December of 2017, I was recognized for my achievements as Marketing Director and was promoted to Operations Manager.

Co-Written Article | Arthur Miller Journal

Throughout the fall and spring semester of 2016-2017, I had the opportunity to work with SUNY Geneseo English professor, Dr. Thomas A. Greenfield, on an article which was submitted to and ultimately accepted for publication by the Arthur Miller Journal. The article compares the stylistic and thematic similarities between American playwright Arthur Miller and British playwright Harold Pinter.  To access the paper on JSTOR, please follow this link: http://www.jstor.org/stable/10.5325/arthmillj.12.2.0150

Disney College Program Campus Intern | Geneseo, NY

After completing my Disney College Program in the spring of 2016, I wanted to continue to share the magic of Disney while on campus in Geneseo. As the Disney College Program Campus Intern, I assist students who are applying to the program by conducting mock interviews and answering questions based on my personal experiences. In addition to organizing informational and "send-off" meetings, I maintain a Facebook page to make sure that applicants and participants feel supported and inspired throughout the Disney College Program journey.

Disney College Program | Walt Disney World
Orlando, FL

In addition to my "earning" responsibilities as a Character Attendant, I elected to take two accredited collegiate classes to continue my "learning" while away from SUNY Geneseo. In my Advanced Studies of Hospitality Management class, taught by Pamela Campbell, I learned how to write and organize a business plan. This business plan, written for a fake business, was submitted as a website and can be found here: http://leclassique2016.wixsite.com/mysite
In my Corporate Communication class, taught by Brenda Vanderpol, I learned how to create a press release, a news report, corporate blogs and social media posts, and more.

As our final project, we held a mock press conference. To the left of this box, samples from these projects can be accessed via PDF files. The syllabi from these classes may also be accessed for further description and information.

ENGL 414 Term Paper | Fall 2017

The PDF to the left includes the term paper I wrote for a high-level English literature class this past fall. The prompt for this paper reads: "This essay should be 3000-4000 words in length. It will be will be analytical and argument-driven. At least one of our creative works, our novels, must be central to your project. You will reference at least seven secondary (that is, not primary, which are the novels) sources, using MLA-style parenthetical citation." The topic was left entirely to the student's discretion.

This paper received an "A" with comments from my instructor describing it as "well-organized, insightful...model work"

WGSU 55th Anniversary Event | 4.27.18

This event was held on April 27, 2018 and featured live music from bands we play on the radio station, a food truck rodeo, and a food drive to support a local pantry. This event is the largest that I have planned to date, and it resulted in stronger relationships between the radio station, our listeners, and the greater Geneseo community. While planning for this event, I coordinated with many departments on campus such as the Office of Events Scheduling, Campus Auxilary Services, and campus security. To financially support the event, I conducted fundraising efforts in the community to include local businesses.

The PDF to the left reports on what I accomplished as Marketing Director of WGSU, including the planning for the 55th Anniversary Event.

Externship 2018 | Boston, MA

Throughout my internship in the Office of Alumni Relations, I have had the opportunity to work on many different projects and initiatives. One of these is the Externship Program which is a career-exploration opportunity designed to encourage students to explore a wide variety of possibilities for life after Geneseo by engaging participants in an array of career-related activities. I am the Student Coordinator of this year's Externship, scheduled during spring break in Boston, Massachusetts. My responsibilities included marketing the opportunity to students, participating in the Extern selection committee, organizing Extern meetings, arranging travel and lodging reservations, and scheduling alumni visits and networking events. CASE ASAP New York State Meeting | 2.1o.18

I have been honored to serve as the president of the SUNY Geneseo Undergraduate Alumni Association (UAA) for five semesters. As president, I have learned a lot about organizing meetings, coordinating volunteer teams, and planning events. The largest event that I have planned with UAA is coming up in February. It is a state-wide conference for organizations from various colleges and universities that are also affiliated with the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education Affiliated Student Advancement Programs (CASE ASAP). We are honored to have Ms. Robyn Neeley, the CASE ASAP Program Manager, joining us at this event as the keynote speaker. This conference will provide a platform for students to share ideas, make new connections, and compare experiences. Planning for this event has involved many moving parts and I have learned a lot about how to manage lots of responsibilities at once.

Personal Blog | Wordpress

I created a Wordpress blog to record my memories and experiences during my Disney College Program in 2016 which can be accessed at shesthatdisneygirl.wordpress.com

The tone and style of this blog are quite different from that of my academic work as the blog is intended for family and friends who are interested in my Disney journey.
